Books 2 Bread Summer FinLit Program

Books 2 Bread summer financial literacy program is a five-week, hands-on financial literacy program. We’ll meet on Notre Dame College’s campus from 10-1 pm every Tuesday and Thursday. We will cover the five pillars of personal finance (earn, save, invest, protect, and grow). We’ll also take weekly field trips to match the subject we teach. We’re partnering with Giant Eagle, State Farm, CarMax, Huntington Green Apartments, Erie Bank, and more.

Field trips

Week 1: Campus tour of NDC and fireside chat with Admissions

Week 2: Field trip to Giant Eagle to learn how to budget and purchase groceries

Week 3: Field trip to Erie Bank to meet their President and learn about banking

Week 4: Field trip to a car dealership for a mock car-buying experience

Week 5:  Auto accident experience and insurance instructions by State Farm

Upon completion of the program, each student will receive a $1k scholarship to be used for college. Each student can also use the Ohio Department of Ed Credit Flex. Credit Flex will allow them to earn high school credit to satisfy financial literacy requirements.
